The game is officially released!

The game has been completed enough for a release! I'm thankful for the progress I made for this project and I hope you all will enjoy my game. This version is very different from the demo, since it reworks a lot of stuff in the game and adds more features!

You can read the changelog below if you want to know what's been added and changed since the demo. Of course, you can avoid spoilers and just play the game, which I'd recommend doing first!

Additions

  • Added the Level Select! You will go there between levels so you can choose whatever one you want to play next. Just press the number key of the designated level you want to head to. Johner, the keeper of his shop at the select screen, will also talk you if you press certain keys. Go to the Subtitles text file if you want to see what keys to press for dialogue!
  • Added another boss level. There's also now a new way of leaving the boss levels!
  • Added a secret three-act level! Type the number that is left out on the Level Select to access it.
  • Added more decorations to the levels so they don't feel too empty.
  • Added spike balls which instantly kill you like the enemies!
  • A Rick Roll has been added! One of the screenshots on the game page shows you the location of it, but you'll have to find it for yourself!

Changes and Fixes

  • The player has changed to Pop the Jester! He has dialogue as you play the game!
  • Reworked audio so it doesn't layer on top of each other.
  • Boss enemies have been removed for now! It seems the hit count screws up the coding somehow, so lots of enemies on the boss levels will have to do for now.
  • All main themes that are supposed to be in the game are now back! A separate soundtrack has been released if you want to hear them outside of the game!

This is most of what to expect from this update. Hope you enjoy the release of Mail Call! Happy new year, everyone!
